CRCT time is almost here!

The long awaited CRCT Test will be here next week! We will have Reading on Monday, Language on Tuesday, and Math on Wednesday. Please encourage your child to do their best on the test. It is very important for the children to have a smooth morning before the test. Please have them go to bed early and have everything they need ready the night before. They should eat a good breakfast that includes protein such as eggs, cheese, or peanut butter. If you have not already sent in either a snack, juice boxes, or sugar free chewing gum and you would like to help out please send the items in on Monday at the latest. Thanks so much for your help!

Dr. Suess Day!

Unfortunately, I was away at a conference last Friday during the Dr. Suess festivities. However, I did ask Mrs. Long to take pictures of my cute little kiddos so that they could capture the moment for me. I would like to share the pictures with you!

2nd Graders with Giving Hearts!

I want to take a moment to brag on my students and their families! The past 2 weeks we have had opportunities to give to help others. The support that they showed by giving freely and sacrificially was overwhelming to me. Last week we participated in Pennies for Patients. On Monday they brought in $11.50, Tuesday $20.98, Wednesday $25.70, Thursday $22.76, and Friday $21.17 for a grand total of $102.11!!! With only 14 students that was an average of over $7.00 per student! I was so impressed with their efforts and willingness to help others with cancer. On Monday of this week we learned that one of our precious classmates was in a bad car wreck and sustained serious injures. I sent a letter home with the students letting them know this and asked that if they would like to bring in an item or two that I would make a "goodie bag" and take it to the hospital the next day. On Tuesday our classroom table was full of items to take to their friend! I purchased a large gift bag to hold all of the goodies and it was so heavy and full of items that I could hardly carry it through the hospital. Again, they amazed me with such giving hearts and caring attitudes. I can just tell that these students will grow up to be citizens that will always lend a helping hand to their friends and those in need. I hope this inspires all of us to give a little more of ourselves. Please check out the pictures below:

CRCT Crunch Time

We are busy reviewing what we have learned so far this year to make sure that the students are ready for the much anticipated CRCT test that is coming in April. The students take a practice test each morning online, and we are using coach books, as well as the online practice tests throughout the day. I would like to encourage you to have your child practice these tests at home if you have access to the Internet. The link to the site is https://www.georgiaoas.org/servlet/a2l. Each student has a unique login, but the password for all students is "student." Most of the students have memorized the password, if not we will send a letter home soon that will have the login information. Along with the CRCT review we are currently working on Persuasive Writing in Writer's WS, reading menus, poetry, and newsletters in Reader's WS, and Addition with regrouping in Math WS.

Reminder: No School Monday due to the MLK holiday. Enjoy your long weekend and stay warm!
